Police in Bvumbwe over the weekend, recovered ADMARC a stolen pump gun and arrested five suspects in the process.
Confirming the development, Limbe Police Deputy Spokesperson Widson Nhlane, said this occurred on Sunday in Blantyre.
According to him, the five stole the gun at Chigumula ADMARC depot on 29 July, 2017.
He said the five violently attacked an ADMARC security guard and robbed him of a pump gun, which is an assault weapon.
“After the matter was reported to Bvumbwe Police Sub Station, investigations were launched. Police arrested the five in Chigulamula township and recovered the said stolen pump gun,” he disclosed.
The spokesperson said one of the ADMARC security guards Richard Nalungwe allegedly connived with the suspects to steal the rifle.
The five expected to appear before the court soon to answer charges of robbery with violence.
According to Nhlane, the five suspects are Christopher Makaliya aged 38, Francis Thom 29, Chief Weja 19, Joe Aramson 21, and Richard Nalungwe 42, who works for ADMARC at regional headquarters.
