Mia and his wife abida set for May 21 polls campaign
BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The former Member of Parliament (MP )for Thyolo East, Bapu Khamisa on Tuesday joined Malawi congress Party (MCP) after dumping the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
Khamisa made the announcement when MCP vice president and runningmate Sidik Mia met scores of the party’s Parliamentary Aspiring Candidates from the Southern and Eastern Regions at his residence in Blantyre to re-articulate the party’s readiness for campaign ahead of the May 21 Tripartite Elections.
Before donating 40,000 meters of party cloth to be distributed to 20,000 people and also 5000 flags, Mia who is also MCP Presidential runningmate in the forthcoming national elections, urged the candidates to leave no stone unturned as they tirelessly campaign for the party’s Presidential Candidate, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to ensure that MCP forms the next government.
During the function, Parliamentary Aspiring Candidate for Mangochi-Monkeybay, Gerald Kazembe donated MK2 Million to the party’s Campaign Directorate to be used in its operations.
Also, an avid MCP supporter, Ceaser Fatchi donated some 5,000 t-shirts to be equally distributed among the candidates.
The MCP President, Lazarus Chakwera coupled by his running mate Sidik Mia had on Monday last week, presented their Presidential nomination papers to Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) at Comesa Hall in Blantyre.
