Piracy forces Lucius Banda to hasten release of his album 'Time'

Lucius BandaMZUZU--Piracy has forced Malawian musician Lucius Banda to fast-track the release of his forthcoming album Time which was slated for launch in April.

According to the Balaka artist aka Soldier for his songs that contain soothing messages for the downtrodden, Time will instead be launched next month.

"They've compiled seven of the songs on my album. The songs were in a flash that was stolen when my car was involved in an accident last year. These are very raw songs. I've raised concerns with police and Cosoma [Copyright Society of Malawi].

"It's very unfair. This way how can we musicians develop? How can we invest more in music? Since the flash was stolen, those caught with music will also be charged with theft," the Mabala hit-maker told The Nation.
