Former MBC boss Bright Malopa to get K40m for unfair dismissal

Bright MalopaBLANTYRE—Former director general of Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), Bright Malopa, will get about K40 million as compensation for unfair termination of his three year contract following a default judgment delivered by Industrial Relations Court.

He was  sacked by the People’s Party’s (PP) led government after the death former president Bingu wa Mutharika in April last year.

Outspoken Malopa becomes yet another public officer to be compensated with millions of Kwacha.

Among other public officers who have been compensated by the current administration for unfair dismal include former Clerk of Parliament Matilda Katopola, former Admarc boss Charles Matabwa, former Anti-Corruption Bureau chief Alex Nampota. Nampota and Matabwa have so far been given K70 million and K82 million respectively.
