LILONGWE (Mana) -- The Chief Executive Officer for Malawi Fashion Week, Dawa Loga-Lemberger is expected to make a presentation at the on-going inaugural Women, Inspiration & Enterprise (WIE) Symposium currently being held in Cape Town South Africa from 5th to 7th April.
She was selected as one of the female leaders from the world of philanthropy, media, and fashion to inspire and empower others.
Loga-Lemberger is one of the speakers at a panel entitled “Made in Africa: How African Designers Are Influencing the Global Trends.”
Malawi Fashion Week PR Manager Kimpho Hastings Loka, speaking on behalf of Loga-Lemberger in a communiqué made available to Malawi News Agency (Mana), said this is a great prospect for the country to showcase its fashion.
“This is a great opportunity for Malawi as it has come at a time when Malawi is getting ready for the forthcoming Inaugural Malawi Fashion Week. It is also a way of marketing the country’s fashion industry across Africa and the rest of the world,” said.
Founded in 2010 in New York City, WIE is a global annual conference designed to empower the next generation of women leaders. It aims to contribute to changing the perception of Africa as a whole by showcasing successful African women and innovation.
Dawa Loga-Lemberger, a former banker, is an Independent Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics, USA and CEO of Malawi Fashion Week 2013.
It is expected that former First Lady of South Africa Graca Machel and Founder-President of the Wellbeing Foundation Africa, Toyin Saraki will be some of the headline speakers.
The theme for this symposium is Africa’s Turn as Africa is currently experiencing some of the fastest economic growth in the world.
