BLANTYRE(MaraPost)—Barely two days after the presidential running mate of Tisintha Alliance Sylvester Chabuka resigned from the coalition, the party has divulged that it will unveil new running mate in two weeks to come.
Tisintha Alliance president George Mnesa told ZBS that the party will unveil the running mate before Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) start printing of ballot papers for presidential candidates in the forthcoming tripartite election.
Chabuka resigned from the Alliance two days ago arguing the Alliance failed to meet his expectations.
Meanwhile, law expert Wapona Kita has said the Alliance can choose new running mate since the constitution of Malawi under section 52 of the Election Act is silent on the issue.
Recently, Malawi Electoral Commission spokesperson Sangwani Mwafulirwa told media that if running mate dies the party will be allowed to choose another one but he did not elaborate on resignation.
