CHIKHWAWA--Vice President Khumbo Kachali has assured people in the Lower Shire the Banda administration is looking for permanent ways of reducing disaster risks in the region through proper planning and risk management.
Kachali who was speaking at Mwananjobvu and Kalulu stadium in Chikhwawa where he visited over 2000 displaced flood victims heard that nine people have died since January.
"We appreciate the many issues that encompass disaster management in lower shire. This week we created a disaster risk platform and we are sure going to look for permanent ways of helping all Malawians in Lower Shire to give them a settled life," Kachali said.
The Vice President thanked Illovo Sugar Company for supporting the flood victims with various items.
