MZUZU--South Korea's University of Jeonju Friday awarded Malawi president Joyce Banda an honorary doctorate degree - Honoris Causa - in appreciation of what they described as her outstanding efforts in improving Malawi's economy.
The ceremony was held at the university’s campus in Wansan-gu.
In her acceptance speech, Banda was quoted by state press officer Fallys Ngalauka as saying she was “deeply honoured and privileged” for the award.
According to the officer, Banda said the award would “go down in my life as one of the major highlights of recognition of my service to humanity.”
Ngaluka said that at the ceremony, a memorandum of understanding was signed for student exchange programmes.
