MZUZU—Malawi Economic Justice Network (MEJN) says parliamentarians must be radical in questioning the performance of the first budget by the Banda administration when they reconvene for midyear budget review Friday.
MEJN Executive Director Dalitso Kubalasa said economic reform measures aligned in the 2012/2013 budget haven't cushioned most Malawians from economic shocks, hence the need for a radical review of the Pres Banda financial plan.
"Malawi had a very difficult budget with all the challenges, and six months down the line we've seen that some of the challenges faced by Malawians still persist. We expect the lawmakers to raise all the concerns," Kubalasa told Malawi's ZBS Radio.
The 44th parliament meeting will be officially opened by Pres Joyce Banda and about 17 bills are expected to be tabled during the meeting.
