MZUZU--Zomba Central Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Yunus Mussa has jump-started his campaign for next year's tripartite elections, saying his first step is to strengthen the party at the grassroots to increase its winning back power.
The former Minister of Works during the late Bingu wa Mutharika regime addressed a big crowd at Chinamwali Catholic grounds in Zomba during which 56 individuals who claimed to have been United Democratic Front and People's Party followers announced their defection to the former ruling party.
"Since the death of the former president [Mutharika last April] a lot has happened like DPP members moving to other political parties, hence the need to strengthen the party," said Mussa who called on party members to be united and to welcome everyone joining DPP.
He asked the people to support for the party's candidate in next year's presidential elections.
