BLANTYRE—Malawi’s President Joyce Banda says she is saddened with the death of Paramount Chief Inkosi Ya Makosi Mbelwa the IV who died in the early hours of Tuesday at Mwaiwanthu private hospital in Blantyre.
Speaking at the hospital where she went to console the deceased's relations, Pres Banda said the country has lost a “committed, courageous and true Malawian son”.
“The departed chief deserves respect and credible funeral ceremony,” she said.
Ministry of local government and rural development spokesperson, Maganizo Mazeze, said details regarding burial will be communicated later as family members are still liaising.
He however indicated that the deceased's remains have been taken to College of Medicine.
