Malawians in Lilongwe view M’mbelwa’s remains

Khumbo Kachali pays last respect to late Mbelwa as he leads viewing ceremony at Mtunthama State HouseBLANTYRE—The body of Ngoni Chief Inkosi ya Makosi M'mbelwa will on Wednesday lie in state at Mtunthama State Residences in Lilongwe, before being taken to Mzimba on Thursday. The body was ferried to the capital city Tuesday afternoon.

Burial will take place on Saturday at Edingeni, the deceased’s headquarters. He died at Mwaiwathu hospital where he was referred to by Lilongwe Central Hospital, according to family and government sources.

M'mbelwa, who was born Zwangendaba Jere on August, 15 1954 and was installed as Paramount Chief in 1984, is survived by a wife and four children.

The chief was friendly to many and he will also be remembered his tough stand against the division of Mzimba.

Meanwhile, Malawians in the capital city are paying their last homage to late paramount chief, and according to funeral organizing committee chairperson, Willie Samute, viewing of the body will take place the whole day.
