In Blantyre, police stopped pupils from reaching Sanjika Palace. Their plan to ask the president to address teachers' concerns so they could return to school.
The angry pupils stoned a vehicle belonging to Malawi celebrated artist Lucius Banda which they apparently mistook for a cabinet minister's.
Lucius on his Facebook page wall said “Oh very sad!!!Just have my black car stoned by pupils at Mbayani Primary School. They thought is a ministerial Merc. Thank God my bodyguard was alert. It was going to be bad.”
Speaking in his personal capacity, John Gift Mwankhwawa, President of the Malawi Law Society said, “What other sign do you need to accept that tomorrow has come. Just look at the children on the streets. We should be ashamed that we did not do it for them.”
