Malawi TNM super league: Bullets on top of log table after beating Civo united 2-0

Bullets players celebrating goalLILONGWE--With two games in hand, Big Bullets are now on top of the log table with 52 points after beating Civo united 2-0 on Saturday.

Played before a mammoth crowd at Civo stadium in Lilongwe, the game started at a high note with good exchange of passes from both teams.  Dalitso Sailesi opened the score sheet in the 28th minute in the first half to make it 1-0. In the 40th minute, Bullets captain fisher Kondowe was given marching orders after head butting a Civo United player in reaction to a bad tackle on him.

With one man down, Civo united looked a determined side to equalize and even to punish Bullets but their efforts did not yield results as the struggling Bullets killed the tempo of the game after pulling a surprise when Gabadin Mhango in a two man commando raid with Heston Munthali pulled a left footed shot hitting the roof of the net making it 2-0.

In an interview, Bullets coach Edington Ng’onamo was all praises to his boys for the job well done saying the victory was dedicated to the late Bullets Coach Dave Mpesi who has been put to rest today.

“My boys played well and did not lose hope even after that red card with red card and we dedicate this victory to the late coach Dave Mpesi,” said Ng’onamo.

Commenting on Fisher Kondowe’s fate, the coach said was not happy with the reaction of the captain after the tackle on him, “As a captain, he was supposed to be exemplary but am happy because after the incident, Fisher apologized for his behavior” said the coach.
