Silver StrikersLILONGWE--Silver strikers F.C fondly known as the bankers have convincingly whacked Blantyre United 5-0 to raise their hopes of lifting the2012-2013 TNM Championship in a thrilling encounter played at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday.

Rodrick Gonani scored a hat trick and Frank Banda scored a brace for the bankers. This means that Silver Strikers have 54 points on the log table and the bankers only need four points to be declared the champions with three games remaining against Kamuzu Barracks, Mighty Wanderers and Epac F.C to finish their chase for TNM championship.

In an interview, coach for Blantyre United Eliya Kananji accepted defeat saying “We didn’t play well.” Kananji however said his charges will work hard in their remaining fixtures to maintain position three on the log table at the end of the season.

Silver Strikers mentor Franco Ndawa was happy with the victory saying that the bankers will not wait for anyone to fight for them on their quest to lift the championship.
