BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The ministry of Homeland Security through the department of immigration and citizenship services with the help of Malawi police Service stormed businesses premises where over 130 foreigners were apprehended in a sweeping exercise taking place national wide with the aim of purging illegal immigrants

In an interview with Maravi Post national immigration spokesperson Joseph Chauwa said the exercise is targeting foreigners that are staying, working, doing business in the country with fake residents permits and without necessary papers.

Chauwa said so far in 130 foreigners, 38 have been netted in the northern region, 36 southern region in Blantyre city, and 56 in Central east region.

Chauwa said the number is likely to rise as the exercise is still in progress.
