LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Tonse government main partner Malawi Congress Party (MCP) team which gathered at Masintha ground on Saturday, December 11, 2021 generally thanked God for the given leadership to rule the nation again after 26 years in opposition.
The party members were dressed up in newly branded T-shirts of different colours ranging from black, red, green and white. Some of the T-shirts had been written “Team Chimbaula”.
They all looked excited and contented for being in government.
The different speakers who took to the podium in turns accused the DPP for using Bon Kalindo in his country wide demonstrations.
“Don’t allow anyone to insult President Lazarus Chakwera. “Manyi anenewo alekeratu”, said one of the female speakers who spoke just before Halima Daud.
When Halima Daud took to the podium she said the Tonse Alliance had taken over a stinking government. She said President Chakwera was busy removing the stinking stuff.
“You, MCP supporters are the ones to protect and respect the president, your President, our President. Don’t allow anyone to insult Chakwera. Let us be patient and wait for the this current government to turn the economy around for the betterment of all Malawians”, Halima said.
Nancy Tembo also popped in and told the people gathered at the rally that Tonse government was busy developing Malawi throughout all corners.
“We have good roads and bridges on our development agenda from Kawale to the hospital including all rural areas in this country”, she concluded.
Richard Chimwendo Banda told the gathering that they were now ready to move to all parts of the country to tell Malawians the truth because some failed politicians were not honest.
He explained that some opposition leaders were busy cheating Malawians and taking advantage of their ignorance.
Chimwendo He directly referred to the ‘Pa ground sipali bwino ‘ demonstrations by Bon Kalindo as meaningless.
Timothy Mtambo who was a special guest of honour was the last to speak on the day. He said that it was true that Malawi was facing economic challenges but the Tonse alliance would soon fix them out.
He attacked Bon Kalindo’s demonstrations that they did have a clear direction and asked the Tonse supporters not to take part in any of the demonstrations.
Mtambo also chose to respond to social media attacks and what he called allegations that he had stopped fighting for the people because he was carrying a bun in his mouth.
He explained that there was time for everything, so it was time for to work with the President.
“I organised the 2019/2020 demonstrations country wide because our vote had been stolen, we wanted Jane Ansah out of office for messing up the election, the nation lacked leadership, and there was rampant corruption”, Mtambo said.
The minister of civic education further clarified that he was now serving Malawians by taking a cabinet post and working with President Lazarus Chakwera and had not abandoned Malawians.
Timothy Mtambo further warned that the DPP would lose the next election in 2025 because it will just be a walk over for President Lazarus Chakwera.
“A President is democratically mandated to rule this country for two consecutive five year terms”, Mtambo said.
