Malawi, Lilongwe: 29 year Chosadziwa Kalodza is in Police custody in Kawale for possessing medical drugs illegally.

According to Lilongwe Police Public Relations Officer, Kingsley Dandaula, the suspect was nabbed on Friday while in transit to Chilinde at Chipasula junction where traffic police were doing routine checks.

He said they grew suspicious of the vehicle, Toyota Corolla registration number BP9815 which the suspect was driving and after finding out that he had worn out tires, they also discovered that he had cartons in the car.

“After asking him to pull over and traffic police checks, they discovered that he was transporting cartons which he could not explain clearly. They called one officer responsible for dangerous drugs and narcotics who interviewed the suspect.

“Upon questioning, he denied selling the drugs, but said he was hired to transport them to a client in Chilinde. He was found with cartons containing 2000 capsules of Chloraphenicol, 32 bottles of Erythromycin each containing 1000 capsules and four cartons each with 500 X-ray films,” said Dandaula.

He said police are still searching for the man that hired Kalodza.

Kalodza hails from Chimwamowa Village, Traditional Authority Chakhumbira in Ntcheu.
