In a bid to promote self-reliance among people especially the youths, Christ love Outreach Ministry (CLOM) has embarked on an ambitious project called “Uthunthu” which is aimed at building people both spiritually and economically.
Speaking in an interview on Monday July 6 after ‘’ Uthunthu’’ Youth Conference at Bridge view Hotel in Lilongwe, CLOM Director Pastor Caswell Mkanda said the project wants to get rid of a spirit of dependency by installing entrepreneurial skills in a holistic approach.
“Most youths are currently suffering because they have not yet discovered their purpose and vision. So we want to help them seek Devine intervention to discover their purpose, because we believe that is the only way somebody can succeed in whatever he or she is doing” said Mkanda.
He added that many people especially youths are sailing through trouble because they have not yet discovered the meaning life.
He said it is always easy to equip somebody with skills when he has discovered meaning of his life as compared to a person who has not yet found meaning of living.
“Our purpose is to build a complete human being, that’s what “Uthunthu is all about. A person who is mentally fit, spiritually mature and financially stable, a citizen who will live a mark that will hardly be erased” He explained.
One of the participants and beneficiary of Uthunthu project Oliver Samute described the conference and the whole project in general as an eye opener to young people who are looking forward to achieving great things in life.
“This has been the bridge, we have moved from one side to the other. We are now able to come up with business ideas and work on them.” Said Samute
The Uthunthu project started in 2004, and has benefited a lot of people in Lilongwe.
Among other skills people are taught home economics which include cooking and home management, entrepreneurship and ministry management just to mention a few.
