BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Agricultural Development Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) has procured over 2,500 tonnes of maize since April, with a target of over 17,000 tonnes for the year.
In an interview with Maravi Post,ADMARC Chief Executive Officer(CEO ), Daniel Makata, said the majority of the maize has been sourced from the southern region, with other regions slowly contributing.

Makata encouraged farmers to sell their crops, including maize, to ADMARC, citing available funds and a government commitment to top up the budget.
Meanwhile, agriculture expert Gresham Kamnyamata has advised authorities to adopt innovative strategies to meet procurement targets amidst high market competition.
In the 2025/2026 fiscal plan, Parliament allocated K60 billion for maize purchases by ADMARC and the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA), with K20 billion earmarked for ADMARC.
