
BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—Malawi’s grain marketor Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) on Tuesday received an overall best exhibitor award during the inauguration of the 28th Malawi International Trade Fair by President Peter Mutharika in Blantyre.
ADMARC was established as a statutory corporation under Chapter 67.03 of the Laws of Malawi. The Act and other enabling laws allowed ADMARC to enjoy monopoly status in respect of the purchase from smallholder farmers of a range of controlled crops.
There were also awards for the service sector which has gone to Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL), Proto Feeds has been awarded as best exhibitor in manufacturing sector, best exhibitor in export sector has gone to Illovo Malawi Limited.
In his remarks, minister of trade and industry, Joseph Mwanamveka said the awards should be regarded as a challenge towards their excellence.
“We chose the winners by looking at the external and internal appearance of the exhibition booth; presentation of the products and services; marketing techniques, originality of the products or services and management of the stand.
“These awards should encourage you to do more innovations next year and going forward. For those who did not win do not despair there is always the next time,” said Mwanamveka.
In his speech, President Mutharika who officially opened the fair, asked the companies to be innovative and competitive.
“I dream of Malawi that has never been before. Why not? But we need to be innovative. The principle of survival in business and in life, is simple. Innovation is insurance for survival in a competitive business world. In life either you adapt, or you perish! Be innovative or perish!
“Africa needs innovation for us to walk in step with the world. We need to be innovative to move with the rising Africa. Innovation will enable us to take a lead in the regional and international integration. We need to be innovative for our business to remain competitive and survive. So your challenge is: think innovation,” said Mutharika.
The Fair is an annual trade promotion event that gives exhibitors an opportunity to market their products and services and enhance product and brand visibility and generate leads that helps drive incremental sales.
This year, the fair will run from 17th to 29th April.
