#AFCON 2021: Malawi’s Flames ready to go

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Football National team the Flames is expected to leave the country on Thursday, December 23, 2021 for Saudi Arabia where they are expected to camp a head of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in YAOUNDÉ Cameroon.

Polokwane City trio of Mike Mkwate,Khuda Ikenna Muyaba and defender Dennis Chembezi trained with their friends in Blantyre yesterday a head of the journey.

While Tanzanian based midfielder Peter Banda is doubtful of making it to Saudi Arabia as he is one of the Simba FC players currently on isolation for suspected to be COVID-19 positive.

John Cj Banda Flames Vice Captain says trainings are going on very well,Malawi is in the same group with Guinea, Zimbabwe and Senegal.

Malawi’s first game is against Guinea on 9th January, 2022 which will be the opening game of the 34th Edition of the Continental showpiece.

Malawi qualified to African Cup of Nations for the third time in history, last being in 2010 in Angola,they won their first game against Algeria by three goals to nil but later lost to Mali and the host to bow out of the competition under Kinnah Phiri.
