Afghanistan car bomb attack claims nine lives, injures 15

KABUL-(MaraviPost)-Car Bomb attack targeting a lawmaker on Sunday morning killed 8 people including women, children and the elderly in Kabul city,
Afghan capital.

The interior ministry spokesperson Tariq Arian confirmed the news in a statement.

The attack happened when the convoy of lawmaker Khan Mohammad Wardak was passing through an intersection in Kabul’s Khoshal Khan neighbourhood.

According to eye witness, the powerful explosion caused a lot of damage to civilian vehicles and nearby buildings and shops.

Violence has surged across several provinces in Afghanistan this year despite the Taliban and government peace talks with nearly 2,100 civilians killed and more than 3,800 wounded between January and September.

No group has so far claimed responsibility.

A report by Al Jazeera news indicated that in Separate incidents, bombings were also reported on Sunday in the provinces of Logar, Nangarhar, Helmand and Badakhshan which claimed a number of civilians and security forces members.

On Friday, a suspected rickshaw bomb blast killed at least 15 civilians, including 11 children, in central Ghazni province.
