MCHINJI (MaraviPost)—In attempts to alleviate hurdles of travelling to tobacco auction floors in the three regions of Malawi, AHL Group has launched AHL Funsawekha machine. Funsawekha is a machine which displays information of tobacco sales of the farmers.
In an interview with MaraviPost reporter at the grand launch of Funsawekha machine in Mchinji, AHL Group corporate affairs manager, Mr. Mark Ndipita said the coming of this machine will ease the pressure that tobacco farmers experience when they want to access information of their tobacco sales.
In addition to that Mr. Ndipita clearly assured the tobacco farmers that they will be able to know the date when their tobacco will be sold and whether it will be on contract or auction using the same machine.
Funsawekha machines have been set up in Chitipa, Rumphi, Mponela, Mchinji and Lilongwe ATC shops but they will certainly be launched across Malawi.
Speaking during the launch Traditional Authority Nyoka commended AHL Group for this initiative. T/A Nyoka also said that the introduction of Funsawekha machine will help to check the lustful behavior that farmers display when they get tobacco proceeds.
“Tobacco farmers habitually cheat on their wives with the money suckers of Chigwirizano pretending that they have gone to check balance in Kanengo auction holdings” T/A Nyoka commented.
AHL Group has five companies which include; ATC, TIL Limited, Malawi Leaf , AHL Chemicals and Steel Limited , and AHL Commodities Exchange (AHCX
