LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Airtel Money Malawi on Wednesday, June 12, 2025 launched school fees payments in partnership with Centenary Bank dubbed as Cente Fees and Cente E-Value.
The two groundbreaking digital financial services designed to enhance convenience, accessibility, and financial inclusion across Malawi.
Cente Fees is the first-of-its-kind solution that enables parents and guardians to pay school fees digitally
for any institution with a Centenary Bank account—securely and instantly through Airtel Money.
This breakthrough reduces cash-handling risks, eliminates inefficiencies, and ensures agents can
serve customers reliably, even in hard-to-reach areas.
Speaking at the launch event, Airtel Money Malawi Managing Director, Thokozani Kamkondo-Sande,
emphasized how Cente Fees and Cente E-Value mark a new chapter in digital financial services.
“At Airtel Money Malawi, we are committed to driving financial inclusion and delivering digital solutions
that transform lives. Cente Fees is a revolutionary leap, allowing families to pay school fees with ease,
directly from their phones—without travel, queues, or delays.

our partnership with Centenary Bank demonstrates what’s possible when institutions come together with
a shared vision,” she said.
Kamkondo-Sande also highlighted Airtel Money’s latest achievement, stating that on 6th June 2025, Airtel
Money Malawi was honored with the Best E-Commerce Platform of the Year award at the 2025 ICTAM
Corporate Awards.
She emphasized that this recognition reflects the trust Malawians place in the platform and reaffirmed Airtel Money’s commitment to continuous innovation, growth, and customer-centric
solutions.
One of the parents, Edwin Watchi, whose child learns at St. John’s Secondary School lauded the innovation the describing it as cost-effective and time-saving.
Sister Valentine Gudyanga, a representative of St. John’s School, highlighted the benefits of transaction accuracy and real-time processing, “Schools will now be able to monitor payments as they happen.In addition to CenteFees, the two institutions also introduced another service dubbed CenteValue”.
Kawale Airtel Money agent Bridget Mikundi and a Centenary Bank customer, said CenteValue will help agents maintain sufficient float and reduce the cost of travelling to bank branches for cash.
In his remarks, Managing Director of Centenary Bank, Godfrey Byekwaso, emphasised that these innovations align with the bank’s mission to drive financial inclusion and improve lives.
“We promised financial inclusion, convenience, innovation, simplified products, and transformation. These two products—CenteFees and CenteValue—are a fulfilment of those promises,” he said.

This launch reinforces Airtel Money’s position as Malawi’s leading digital payments platform, with the
2023 MACRA ICT survey revealing that 8 out of 10 Malawians use Airtel Money—a testament to the trust
and reliability that customers have in the platform.
Additionally, Airtel Money Malawi has introduced Cente E-Value, a service tailored to empower Airtel Money agents with seamless float management.
Through this innovation, agents can now top up their
agent wallets by transferring funds from their Centenary Bank account—directly via phone or by visiting a branch.
