
Anger, frustration, bitterness faces

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on Friday presented his nomination papers to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) at Comesa Hall ahead of the May 21 tripartite election.
Mutharika arrived at Comesa Hall with pomp and many DPP supporters were anxiously waiting for the President to unveil the person he will partner in the forthcoming polls.
Silence engulfed Comesa Hall just after President Mutharika unveiled his runningmate in the name of Everton Chimulirenji.
Many DPP supporters were seen asking each other about Chimulirenje.
Earlier, on Friday The Maravi Post block the news of Chimulirenji as Mutharika’s running mate.
The President’s choice is said to be heavily influenced by his Wife Gertrude Mutharika and trusted board-guard Norman Chisale.
Local Government Minister Kondwani Nankhumwa, former agriculture minister Chaponda and former speaker Henry Chimunthu Banda, Education Minister Bright Msaka were possible runningmate within DPP ranks.

Some of the DPP top officials were also seen dropping their faces down in disbelief and one of them being Kondwani Nankhumwa, DPP Vice President for the South.

Chimulirenji is considered as the weak runningmate among main political parties including UTM Party, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) as the May 21 polls will be a three-sided race.
