Another one of the amateur coup plotters, Malawi Congress Party’s Peter Chankhwantha was on Tuesday night granted bail from police custody hours after he was arrested for being part of the group of coup plotters.
The Law maker Chakhwantha, handed himself over to the police in Lilongwe earlier on tuesday after cowardly hiding in the Germany Consulate. Chakhwantha, who is also MCP’s Legal Advisor, was on the wanted list relating to the same WhatsApp group of amateur plotters.
According to reports reaching the Maravi Post, He was escorted to police headquarters in Lilongwe’s Area 30 by Gustave Kaliwo, MCP secretary general.
He like the others was charged with treason and for some compassionate reasons immediately made bail even though the police could have held him a little bit longer.
