Bernadette Mkandawire returns to Bullets Women after Kazakhstan stint

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Star midfielder Bernadette Mkandawire has made a surprise return to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women, rejoining the squad on a short-term deal after her international spell in Kazakhstan.

The talented Scorchers player had joined BIIK Shymkent, one of Kazakhstan’s top women’s football clubs, back in December 2024, where she showcased her quality in the European game.

While at BIIK Shymkent, Mkandawire managed to make her mark by scoring two goals in the domestic league, contributing significantly to the team’s attacking strength before returning home.

She was part of the same transfer move that saw her link up with fellow Malawian international Vanessa Chikupira, further highlighting Malawi’s growing influence in global women’s football.

Her return comes at a crucial time for Bullets Women, who are currently competing in the National Bank of Malawi (NBM) National Women’s Premiership.

The team has been fighting to regain dominance in the highly competitive league, and Mkandawire’s creativity, international experience, and leadership in midfield are expected to provide a major boost to their title ambitions.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women, who have been nurturing young talent while balancing results in the league, are likely to benefit not just from Mkandawire’s skills but also her mentorship of up-and-coming players.
