Blantyre Water Board to name and shame illegal water connectors

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The Blantyre Water Board (BWB) has given a 30-day ultimatum customers consuming and using the utility’s water illegally to stop the act warning that will start naming and shaming perpetrators of illegal connections.

In a statement, the board has stressed that it is losing a lot of revenue from the illegal connections, and that this reflects badly on its performance as a service provider.

“BWB is therefore, giving a 30-day ultimatum to anyone that is illegally connected to BWB’s water supply system to identify themselves, have the illegal connections removed pay the appropriate fine or else face the appropriate laws and consequences which will be fully effected and also the shame of your particulars being shared in mainstream and social media,” reads a statement in part.

Meanwhile, the board has urged its customers in the country to continue reporting illegal connection activities, saying a reward will be given to the informants when the illegal connection is confirmed.
