HARARE-(MaraviPost)-When it rains it pours, A dark cloud has engulfed Zimbabwe as legendary musical icon Oliver Mtukudzi has died!
Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi (22 September 1952 – 23 January 2019) was a Zimbabwean musician, businessman, philanthropist, human rights activist and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Southern Africa Region.
Tuku was considered to have been Zimbabwe’s most renowned and internationally recognised cultural icon of all time. has died!
According to close sources Tuku as he was known died this afternoon at the Avenues Clinic in Harare. Details are sketchy but Tuku seemed to have been in ICU when he passed on.
A source close to the family confirmed Tuku’s death saying the family will issue a statement soon.
“It is true that Oliver Mtukudzi has died. He was in a very bad state in ICU. The family will issue a statement to confirm soon,” said a source close Tuku’s to the family.
Tuku died exactly a year after his friend South African icon Hugh Masekela passed on.
He was 66 years.
