Bullets rule out CAF competition as club shifts focus to rebuilding

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have confirmed that they will not take part in CAF club competitions next season, opting instead to concentrate on rebuilding and strengthening the team ahead of the 2026 campaign.

The club’s Chief Executive Officer, Albert Chigoga, said the People’s Team has deliberately set aside any plans to compete in continental tournaments such as the CAF Champions League or the CAF Confederation Cup.

He explained that the club’s priority is to reorganize and prepare a stronger squad for the future.

Chigoga noted that all attention has been directed towards restructuring the team, adding that there are currently no considerations to represent Malawi in CAF competitions.

He stressed that the long term objective is to return to top form and compete more effectively in the coming seasons.

Despite missing out on the TNM Super League title after finishing second on the table, Big Bullets still met some of the requirements for continental football by winning the Airtel Top 8 earlier this year.

The achievement would ordinarily make them eligible for the CAF Confederation Cup.

However, club officials believe that taking a break from continental football will give the team enough time to rebuild without added pressure.

Management feels the approach will help restore the club’s dominance both locally and eventually, on the African stage.

Meanwhile, Big Bullets are also without a head coach following the dismissal of Peter Mponda two weeks ago.

The club has since intensified its search for a new technical leader who will oversee the rebuilding process.

Supporters have been urged to remain patient as the club undergoes changes aimed at long term success.

Management says the current decisions are part of a broader plan to ensure stability and competitiveness.
