Canada has prided itself as an arbiter of dispute and the upholder of human rights as it makes a humble (sic) display of this on the international stage. However, recent reports suggest otherwise.
The Justin Trudeau government seems to be hiding its own pack of wolves in sheep’s clothing as China’s ‘wolf warrior diplomacy’ leaves an indelible mark in the cross-country ties.
Canada has become dangerously compliant to China. Although relations have hit freezing point between the two countries amidst China’s ‘hostage diplomacy’ over the arbitrary detention of Canadians- Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor-in retaliation to Canada’s arrest of Chinese tech giant Huawei’s Chief Financial Officer, MengWanzhou, over fraudulence charged by the US government over the company’s secret dealings with Iran despite US sanctions, China’s hold on Canada’s policies still seems unaffected.
A freedom of information request in April 2019 by Ezra Levant of Rebel News led to the shocking revelation of the true nature of Sin-Canadian ties.
Levant had requested for a specific Sino-Canadian military engagement to corroborate Russian reports of a Canadian delegation being a part of the 70th anniversary celebrations of the Chinese Navy and was instead thrusted with a 34-page copy of numerous lists, letters and emails detailing specifics of the tussle between the Department of National Defense (DND) and the Global Affairs Canada (GAC) over a dispute of holding engagements with China’s People’s Liberation Army.
Confidential details which, in normal circumstances would be blacked out, laid bare in half-pleased grey markings. Levant took no time to post the entire copy online at TheChinaFiles.com.
According to the communication received, the scope of China’s penetration into Canadian military systems was more than obvious. Chinese Commanders were trained at Canadian Forces College in Toronto and Kingston. An entire contingent of 1- & 2-star generals were taught Canadian cold weather military tactics.
Nearly 200 CAF personnel were sent to Wuhan in October 2019 to participate at the Military World Games. Catherine McKenna, the disgraced cabinet minister, flew off to China to attend a three-day conference merely a few months after the hostage crisis.
The most surprising revelation of the lot was Trudeau’s annoyance at the cancelation of a joint military training between the two forces, which was set to take place in Ontario.
Canada’s Global Affairs department was ‘worried’ over potential retaliation from Beijing. Despite heavy pressure from Canadians to push for the ‘2 Michaels’ release, it has been found that the Canadian government, instead, chose the path of peace and tranquility as it continuesefforts of pouring unending kindness upon the dastardly CCP regime.
The documents also highlight towards a rather bizarre pattern of officials refusing to name the 2 Michaels but mentioning ‘Ms. Meng’ multiple times. Concerns over military knowledge transfer to China were also blatantly disregarded by top bureaucrats.
Canada’s submissiveness to China is not merely a trait of Trudeau’s personal obsession with Xi Jinping- it also reflects the attitude of the Canadian government which has been gravely infected by China’s sly strategies to downgrade all of Canada’s legitimate concerns over Chinese autocracy.
Apart from its overt diplomacy tactics, Beijing also has a steady control of the nearly 1.8 million Chinese origin Canadians who are routinely used as ‘undercover state security officials’ or proxies to target dissidents of the CCP on Canadian soil.
A notable high-profile effort that was part of a global campaign was the 2014 Operation Fox Hunt which targeted wealthy Chinese citizens who had fled overseas with large amounts to escape the wrath of the CCP but later morphed into curbing dissent and spreading propaganda both- offline and online.
Canada is gradually evolving into another puppet nation for China as the latter gently injects its venom throughout Canadian economy and administration.
It is about time that Canada take charge of its independence and develop firm steps to counter the power strikes of China.
