Nigerian man arrested for killing his brother’s son
OGUM STATE-(MaraviPost)-A 34-year-old Nigerian man, Faruq Seidu, has been arrested for killing his brother’s seven-year-old child after the father of the deceased refused to give him money to marry a third wife.
The boy was kidnapped was on December 11, 2019 before he was strangled and thrown into the river by the three men contracted by Faruq Seidu.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the deceased was reportedly kidnapped from his parents’ residence at Sabo Ilupeju, Abeokuta, Ogun State by the three men who initially demanded N5m ransom, but later reduced it to N300,000.
The boy was later killed upon recognising his uncle, Seidu, who was afraid of being exposed.
“I want to appeal to members of the public to trust nobody, because if a brother could do this to his brother, then who can be trusted? I want to sound a serious warning to criminals in the state and I will be borrowing from the words of the governor, who he said hell fire would be more conducive for criminals than Ogun State, ” said PPRO.
Seidu has maintained his innocence throughout and he awaits for his trial.
TAMIL NADU-(MaraviPost)-In a shocking incident, a 33-year-old goldsmith in Tamil Nadu’s Villupuram district committed suicide along with his wife, over heavy debts.
He also fed cyanide to three of his daughters and even shot a video to capture the incident.
The deceased who was identified as Arul- said that he was under huge debts after buying three-digit lucky-draw lottery tickets.
By shooting a video minutes before dying, he wanted to bring to light that people should further be aware of the financial perils before getting involved in lottery ticket scams.
In a way, he wanted other people to save themselves from becoming victims of this scam – a fate that he could not escape.
Minutes before ending his life, Arul had sent a video to his friend in which he justified his reason for killing his three daughters and his wife.
He said that he had been forced to take this step due to ever-increasing mounting debts which he would be unable to repay.
It was quite evident that he landed in this situation after purchasing the lottery tickets.
The deceased’s friends took the matter to the police station but unfortunately, when the police arrived at the spot, the door was locked from inside and the family was lying dead.
The victims have been identified as Arul, his wife A Sivagami, and his three daughters Priyadharsini, Yuva Sri and Bharathy.
Arul is found saying these lines in the video, “Boss… God… Are you all human?? No…You are all God. But, I am not human. There is no justice and righteous thing,”, according to Hindustan Times.
The video also shows his unconscious daughters lying on the floor.
“See here, I had given cyanide to three of my daughters. My wife and I will also take cyanide in a minute. We won’t be alive anymore. Hereafter, no one could do anything. Please be happy. May you people live a happy life,” Arul says in the video, according to Hindustan Times.
Arul had made his last wish to ban the sale of illegal lottery in Tamil Nadu as by doing so, at least some lives can be eventually be saved and people would be free from debts and would eventually not end up their life in this manner.
At the end of the video which he had circulated to his friend minutes before dying, he expresses his pain where he says that his three minor daughters are dying in front of his eyes.
He also says that nobody will come to their rescue so he has mixed cyanide in alcohol and they will eventually be free from all the burdens.
According to the police, the five dead bodies have been sent for autopsy and a case has been registered.
The Superintendent of Police Jayakumar said in a report that Arul had incurred a huge loss in his business and the consequence was so bad that he had to even sell his house.
It was also found that he owed more than 30 lakh in debt which eventually lead him to end his own life as well as snuff out the lives of his family members.
Jayakumar said that all the sales of the illegal lottery ticket are being done through mobile phones and almost 200 cases have been registered for the same.
Further, he also assured that strict actions will be taken against those involved in this business.
He also said that this incident has thrown light onto the illegal sale of lottery tickets in the state of Tamil Nadu.
BAUCHI STATE-(MaraviPost)-The accident that occurred around 12 midnight in Bauchi State along Bauchi-Ningi Expressway involving two vehicles has claimed the life of about 28 people.
Bauchi Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps, Abdulrazak Najume confirmed the incident. He said out of the 29 people involved in the crash, only one survived.
Najume said one of the drivers involved in the collusion fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle which resulted to a head-on collision claiming lives of 24 family members who were going for a wedding and several others.
“Immediately the crash occurred, the two vehicles were engulfed in flames and all the passengers and the cows were burnt beyond recognition. Only the driver survived with serious injuries,” he said.
The remains of the deceased together with the survivor have been taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for confirmation and treatment.
The head of FRSC has expressed sadness over the incident. He has however urged drivers to be more careful when on the road to avoid loss of lives and properties.
CHIKWAWA-(MaraviPos)-In under 24 hours in Chikwawa on Tuesday alone, lightning struck dead five people in separate incidents, a development authorities in the district are worried about.
Senior Chief Ngabu told Zodiak on Wednesday said that a woman from Khokhwa village has also been struck dead by lightning on her way home from hospital.
“We always want rains but when they start on such bad note, it brings a lot of grief.
“But all the same, I will be advising my people to follow weather updates and take good measures to avoid such untimely deaths,” said Ngabu.
Police spokesperson, Sargent Foster Benjamin, told us police have recorded deaths of three people struck by lightning at Mpinganjira village in Ngabu as they returned from working in the gardens.
“Two sisters and a four-year-old daughter have been killed by lightning at Ngabu,” said Benjamin.
Police say the three–Maria Zuze, 27, Falesi Balankinyu, 35, and the daughter were killed Tuesday.
Bodies were taken to Ngabu Rural Hospital where postmortem confirmed death by electrocution.
Police are therefore advising people to stay indoors and avoiding seeking shelter under trees when it rains.

DAR ES SALAAM-(MaraviPost)-One of Tanzania’s dollar millionaires and chairman for Infotech Investment Group, Ali Mufuruki, is no more.
Mr Mufuruki, who founded CEO Roundtable of Tanzania (CEOrt) and Africa Leadership Initiative (ALI) East Africa died on Saturday night at Montnigside Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa, the CEOrt chairman, Mr Sanjay Rughani confirmed on Sunday, December 8, 2019.
“Dear board members: This is news I would never have wanted to break to you but our dear friend Ali Mufuruki passed on last night at Morningside Hospital, Johannesburg in South Africa….,” Mr Rughani said in his message to members of the CEOrt.
He said Mr Mufuruki fell ill while in Dar es Salaam and was rushed to The Aga Khan Hospital where he was shortly evacuated to South Africa on Saturday in the afternoon.
A businessman and author, Mr Mufuruki was until recently the board chairman for Vodacom Tanzania and Wananchi Group Holdings. He also served as a trustee of the Mandela Institute for Development Studies and a co-author of the book: “Tanzania’s Industrialisation Journey, 2016-2056”.
SURREY-(MaraviPost)-The Police in Surrey have launched investigation following the death of Dmitry Obretetsky after an accident that involved three cars.
Billionaire who made his fortune in Volgograd after the fall of the Soviet Union was knocked down while walking his dog close to his home in Oxshott, near Leatherhead, Surrey.
The father of three who was also the owner of Magnat Trade Enterprise, a distributor for Mars, Nestle and Procter & Gamble in Russia has died in hospital days after the crash.
Police have also confirmed the incident and the death of Obretetsky. His dog died at the on the scene following the collision.
According to one Obretetsky’s friends, Pavel Borovkov, the circumstances surrounding the billionaire’s death are questionable.
He said despite the fact that most people drive reckless in London, he does not exclude the fact that he might have been knocked down deliberately.
His accusation has come in following series of mysterious deaths of prominent Russians in the UK.
Investigators handling the case have asked anyone with information that can lead to clear picture of what exactly happened during the crash to come forward.
Police spokesman said all parties involved in the crash have been asked about the incident and so far there has been no arrests made.
Indian police officers shot dead four rape suspects
HYDERABAD-(MaraviPost)-Four men who were in police custody in connection to India’s most troubling rape case that took place in southern Indian city of Hyderabad have been gunned down by police officers at the crime scene at 3 a.m this morning.
According to the officers involved, these men were taken to the crime scene to demonstrate how the crime was committed in the middle of the night to gather enough evidence to convict them of the crime after police being pressurized to bring them to justice.
Things turned sour when two of the men tried to grab the officers’ guns in attempt to escape leaving the officers with no choice but to shoot them dead.
Officers involved in the death of the four men have been labeled as heros for bringing the rape suspects to justice. According to top police official, V.C. Sajjanar, the four men have been served with justice for the crimes they committed.
However human rights activists believe the killing of the officers has violated human rights that every citizen in the country is entitled with. In recent years, Indian police have killed countless people in same manner and human rights activists believe this might be one of those cases and police have fabricated the story cover their tracks.
As reported by The New York Times, Ranjana Kumari, the director of the Center for Social Research, a nonprofit advocacy group said: “It’s just the outcry that pressured the government to do away with the four men and this is a total and utter violation of human rights”.
She continued to say killing of others in such circumstance is total failure of the criminal justice system.

It has now emerged that the late Robert Mugabe left behind a lot of wealth but no will.
A report from VOA revealed that the late Mugabe left Ksh.1.o2 bilion in cash, 10 cars, a farm and several homes.
According to the State-owned Herald newspaper, Mugabe’s daughter Bona had registered the estate with the High Court on behalf of the family.
Family lawyers also indicated that they are still searching for the will.
If it is not found, the estate will be divided between former First Lady Grace Mugabe and four children.
A diplomatic cable sent by the U.S. embassy in Harare and released by WikiLeaks in 2001 indicated that Mugabe had over $1 billion (Ksh.102billion) worth of assets in Zimbabwe and overseas.
The former Zimbabwean president was also reported to have secret accounts in Switzerland, Channel Islands, Bahamas, and castles in Scotland.
Before his death in September this year, Mugabe had ruled the country for 37 years.
