The Catholic Secretariat of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi regrets to announce the death of Fr. Denis Kamalo of Zomba Diocese. Fr. Kamalo passed away at Pirimiti Mission Hospital yesterday on 13th August, 2015 at the age of 74. Burial Mass will be on Monday 17th August 2015 at Zomba Cathedral starting from 10.00 am.
Born on 14th September, 1941, Fr. Kamalo hailed from Kamaru Village, Mlombozi Parish in the District of Zomba. After accomplishing both Philosophical and Theological Studies, he was ordained priest on 18th April 1971.
His Priestly Life:
As a priest, he served in the following parishes and institutions: Liwonde, Nankhunda, Lisanjala, Mayaka, Chipini, Domasi, and Matiya. He also served as Director of Likulezi Catechetical Centre as well as Director of St. Joseph Carpentry.
Other responsibilities he held were Consultor, Youth Chaplain and Prisons and Hospitals Chaplain.
Program of Events:
14th – 16th August, 2015: The remains will be at Zomba Hospital mortuary. Prayers will be heard at intervals.
16th August, 2015: 4:00 pm: Prayers and departure from the mortuary
4:30 pm: Evening funeral Mass at Zomba Cathedral
6:00 pm: Vigil
17th August, 2015: 10:00 am: Burial Mass at Zomba Cathedral.
