Catholic women organization donates Covid-19 PPEs to Blantyre Archdiocese

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-In a quest to contain further spread of corona virus , faith based grouping Catholic women organization on Sunday February donated Covid-19 personal preventive equipment to Lunzu and St Mary’s Chemusa in the archdiocese of Blantyre.

Speaking after receiving the aid at St Mary’s Chemusa, parish priest Fr Alick Mtapala expressed gratitude on the donation saying will assist to curb further spread of corona virus among Christians at the church.

“On behalf of Christians here at the parish, we are very thankful on the aid be rendered us and will make this place safe for prayers because faithfuls ,hopefully are going to utilize properly this donation managing the fight against Covid-19 scourge,” said Fr Mtapala.

“I should also not mince words here pleading with well wishers and other stakeholders to emulate kind spirit of helping each other during difficult times of affliction,” he adds.

Mtapala also commended Catholic women organization for the kind and has encouraged the grouping to do the same to other churches.

The parish priest further reminded the congregation to continue following covid 19 preventive measures propagated by the ministry of health and uphold their faith towards the Lord as personal savior.

In her remarks, Catholic women organization project officer Felicia Monjeza said the grouping believes that through adherence to covid 19 preventive measures as prescribed by professional healthy workers the country and the world at large can manage to overcome the fast spreading spike.

“We are here to remind each other here ways of preventing covid 19. We believe that the world can defeat corona virus by following good covid 19 preventive measures hence the donation” she said.

Monjeza further thanked O’neal foundation of the United States of America for their timely support for the grouping to implement the project.

Equipments distributed includes washable face masks, sanitizer soap and has been shared to St Mary’s Chemusa parish and three outstation churches such as Chinyama Holly family,Makanani Chikoja and Namisu under Lunzu parish in the archdiocese of Blantyre.

Meanwhile, Malawi government through presidential task force on Covid-19 is expected to receive 100,000 additional Astra zeneca vaccine to be distributed to front line healthy workers in the country.
