Central Region Chipiku League kicks off April 2: Pegged at MK15.5m

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The MK15.5 million Chipiku League is scheduled to kick of on April 2, 2022.

This has been revealed on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Civo Stadium where Central Region Football Association (CRFA) conducted the draw for the two divisions, Premier and Division One.

The draw was witnessed by representatives of all the 24 Premier Division teams, officials from Chipiku Stores the sole sponsors and CRFA officials led by Chairman Austin Biton Ajawa.

The 24 teams have been drawn in three groups of 8 teams in which each team will play 7 games.

The top four teams from each of the three groups will make it into the next round.

Group A has the following teams: Kawinga FC, Extreme FC, Kasungu Police, LUANAR FC, Joseph FC, Dedza Young Soccer, Play Football Malawi and Ngwanje FC.

Group B has St. Gabriel Medicals, Silver Strikers Reserve, ASCENT Academy, Dwangwa United, Mbavi United, Simbi FC, Kamuzu Barracks Youth and Mitundu Strikers.

Group C is comprising of Villa FC, Ngolowindo, Airborne Rangers, Support Battalion, Ekas Freight Wanderers, Wimbe United, Green Rangers and Mchinji Boma Strikers FC.

Speaking after the launch, Chipiku Stores Administrator Brown Mkangama described the draw as well organized.

Mkangama added that as soon, they are ready to adjust the package which has just been increased from MK14.5 million to MK15.5 in the near future.

He also said Chipiku Stores as Sponsors, have been hit hard by three global waves of the pandemic Covid-19.

Ekas Freight Wanderers’ manager Esther Chirwa said the draw was good as it has been conducted in a different formula than that of previous seasons.

She said her team will be aiming for Super League promotion this season hence upbeat of finishing within the top four in Group C.

CRFA General Secretary Bernard Chiwiriwiri Harawa said the draw was wonderful as it attracted many stakeholders including league sponsors, teams and fellow committee members.

Harawa added that the draw was conducted in a better way.

He therefore vowed that the association will make sure the league is violent free.
