MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-In a bid to market their electoral alliance, Dr Lazarus Chakwera and Dr Saulos Chilima have once again inspired hope to the people of the northern region and Malawi at large, after the duo retaliated that once they are voted into power, they will create one million jobs in the first year of their rule.
Speaking on Sunday, May 10, 2020 in Mzuzu, Dr Chilima and Dr Chakwera promised to develop Malawi in areas of agriculture, infrastructure and human capital; among others.
The duo also said they are going to make the nation a conducive place for every Malawian; not leaving behind people from the northern region, which has, for so long lagged behind in terms of development.
While speaking in Chitumbuka, Chilima addressed the mammoth gathering; regardless of the Covid-19 preventive measure of observing social distance, and stressed that through the MCP-UTM Alliance, Malawi will experience a new lease of life through unprecedented levels of development.
On his part, Chakwera said under his leadership, Mzuzu City will be at par with the Capital Lilongwe and Blantyre; by having an office complex for the Head of State and the cabinet ministers.
Chakwera also said under his leadership, Mzuzu will have an international airport called Orton Chirwa.
He further said women will not be left behind and they will hold equally influential positions in the society.
The Mzuzu rally is part of the celebrations that the ‘Tonse Alliance’ has been organising after the Supreme Court judgment on the Presidential appeal case in Lilongwe on Friday.
On Saturday, the alliance held a victory parade in Lilongwe.
