LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-There is growing exchange of bitter words between supporters of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) on who to lead Tonse Alliance in 2025 Presidential Elections.
The political tension has been necessitated by senior MCP officials for endorsing Reverend Lazarus Chakwera as their torch bearer for 2025 polls.

MCP North Vice President Harry Mkandawire, MCP deputy Secretary General (SG) Gotani Hara and lawmaker Binton Kutsayira declared Chakwera for 2025 polls as presidential candidate.
The endorsement has not gone well with UTM seniors and supporters who feel they were cheated by the alliance agreement which state that Chilima will be the torch bearer in 2025.
UTM supporters are demanding that the agreements should be made public now.
“To end the political tense up is for Chilima and Chakwera come open to the public on what were agreements for succession. Let the pact agreement be known to the public than the current situation,” urges UTM senior member who spoke on condition anonymity.
Sources within UTM says Chilima will this week address the nation on the future of Tonse Alliance government.
“Chilima is now ready to talk to the nation on what was agreed in 2020 Tonse Pact agreement. Chilima is aware on whats going on in Tonse government. Lets just wait what he will bring,” says another UTM senior media team who did not want to be named.
