By Sheminah Nkhoma

LILONGWE-(MANA)-President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has assured the people of Chigodi that his government will continue supporting women and youth across different sectors.

During a whistle-stop tour at Chigodi trading centre in Lilongwe on Monday, Chakwera stated that his administration is dedicated to further empowering women and youth in sectors such as agriculture, entrepreneurship, and mining.

He emphasised the importance of involving these groups in projects that benefit both them and the nation.

“For the past years, my government has ensured that women and youth have ventured into irrigation systems to secure year-round harvests,” he said.

The President also noted that in mining, women and youth should be included, as it generates additional revenue that benefits them.

“As a country, we want more youths and women to become self-reliant economically so that Malawi can progress,” said Chakwera.

In his remarks, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Central Region Chairman Patrick Zebron Chilondola praised Chakwera for reshaping Malawi’s political landscape, stating that the country has changed significantly during his tenure.

He asked for another term in office as president to continue the developments.

President Chakwera carried out whistle-stop tours in Lilongwe in preparation for the September 16 General Elections.
