ABUJA-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera on Thursday, June 26, 2025 had a candid talks with renowned African investor, Anthony Onyemaechi Elumelu.

Elumelu is one of Africa’s leading philanthropists whose initiatives are empowering a new generation of young entrepreneurs on the continent.

Chakwera met Elumelu on sidelines of the 32nd Afrexim Bank annual meeting in Abuja, Nigeria.

Elumelu is also a Chairman of Heris Holdings, Transcorp, United Bank of Africa and Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation.

Writing on his Facebook page, Chakwera said, “This, he is doing through his Tony Elumelu Foundation plus his other business ventures such as Heris Holdings, Transcorp and United Bank of Africa.

“I am delighted to inform you that the Tony Elumelu Foundation has expressed keen interest to include Malawi within his Foundation’s catchment scope”.

The Malawi leader added, “We have agreed to set a clear roadmap on how we establish linkages with the Ministry of Youth to facilitate a program to provide $5000 seed capital per young person resulting to thousands of our youth.

“Under this framework, the Foundation will train and mentor our young people to maximize their impact on national development”

Chakwera says, “I am excited to explore how our shared commitment to inclusive prosperity can drive the aspirations of Malawi’s youth on our quest to create 3 million jobs between 2025 and 2030”.
