Chakwera drops fertilizer price, to fire rogue fuel crisis instigators

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera has declared that fertilizer under the Affordable Input Programme (AIP) will be sold at MK15 000 per 50 kilogram bag for small holder farmers and will be distributed from 1st October 2025.

President Chakwera made the remarks on Monday evening when he delivered a national address from Sanjika Palace in Blantyre.

In his statement he added that farmers growing for business will be able to acquire 50 kilogram bags of fertilizer at the price of 90 000 Kwacha, highlighting that this fertilizer will be available from Tuesday 9th September.

President chakwera has also assured Malawians that the prevailing fuel availability challenges – created by a few unscrupulous individuals from the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA), that are against the Government to Government (G2G) procurement process – are being addressed, and that at least 240 trucks are expected to arrive in the country in the next few days to ensure that fuel is readily available across the country by Saturday.

Significantly, the Malawi leader has made it abundantly clear that those behind the fuel procurement malpractice have been identified and will be relieved of their duties by the end of the election period.

President Chakwera declared that his unwavering resolve to serve Malawians will not be shaken nor will his spirit to fight for Malawians be broken by a few unpatriotic individuals.
