Chakwera for high-level bilateral talks at Afrexim Bank meeting

ABUJA-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera says he will use the 32nd Annual Meetings of the African Export-Import Bank (Afrexim Bank) to engage in high-level bilateral talks aimed at securing deeper partnerships in key sectors aligned with Malawi’s development agenda.

Speaking before departing the country on Monday, June 23, 2025 for Abuja, Nigeria, where the summit will take place from Wednesday, Chakwera said the gathering presents a unique opportunity to strengthen the country’s global ties.

“I will be holding bilateral discussions with fellow Heads of State, development partners, and financial leaders to pursue partnerships that support Malawi’s priority sectors,” he said.

Writing on his official Facebook page, Chakwera added:

“Convened under the theme ‘Building the Future on Decades of Resilience’, the series of meetings emboldens our stance to expand Malawi’s strategic reach within the framework of continental trade and investment.”

Malawi’s key development focus areas include agriculture, tourism, and mining—sectors the President believes can be transformed through robust international collaboration and investment.
