Chakwera satisfied with Mzuzu Youth Centre construction

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera on Thursday, March 13, 2025 wrapped up his assignments in the Northern Region with an inspection tour of Mzuzu Youth Centre construction works at Katoto in Mzuzu City.

The inspection was aimed at appreciating progress made and also to obtain a direct account of some of the challenges impacting the project.

Once completed, the facility is expected to give provide Northern Region with a dedicated space to host various sporting activities.

During his two week stay in the North, President Chakwera presided over the Martyrs’ Day Commemoration Service in Nkhata-Bay; held talks with youths in the region on the State of the Nation Address (SONA); engaged a round table discussion with vendors; interacted with chiefs and also interfaced with private and public university students, among several other activities all aimed at achieving the Chakwera administration’s vision 2063 development agenda.

In her remarks, Mzuzu City Youth Network Chairperson Salome Kadanzi thanked the President for honoring the request to inspect the site.

“We presented the request during the SONA for youth interaction and we thank you for heeding the call. This shows that you have the welfare of youths at heart,” she said.

The facility will, among other things, contain a football ground, courts for various sports disciplines, ICT lab, dressing rooms, a hall and administration block. The president has since left Mzuzu for Lilongwe.
