MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera has said construction and upgrading of roads is part of his vision to turn trading centers into towns.

Speaking at Kafukule Trading Center in Mzimba district, Chakwera noted the that trading center is one of the oldest and he said it is high time it became a town.

“I remember Kafukule as a trading center from the times of Dr. Banda: The M1 Road was passing through here.

“This is why we are now saying the road should be upgraded because more businesses will follow after the Mzimba-Kafukule-Euthini Road,” said Chakwera.

Group Village Headman Scot of the area appreciated Chakwera for treating all Malawians as one.

He, however, asked for an upgrade of Kafukule Health Center, saying the facility is now being overwhelmed with growing population in the surrounding villages.

“Apart from the upgrade of the health facility, our police unit has no staff houses and operational vehicles,” he said.

Chakwera, who is on a campaign trail in the northern region, is expected to have another public address at Mpherembe Trading Center, and he will later visit Inkosi Mpherembe and Mtwalo, respectively.
