LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera on Thursday morning, June 5, 2025 welcomed Mozambique President Daniel Francisco Chapo to Malawi on his two-day official visit.
This is the first time for Chapo to visit Malawi as Mozambique President since he assumed power last year.
Upon arrival at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in the capital Lilongwe, Chapo was welcomed on arrival by Vice President Michael Usi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nancy Tembo, Minister of Information and Digitalization Moses Kunkuyu and several top government officials.
Therefore upon arrival, President Chapo drove straight to Kamuzu Palace where he was welcomed by President Lazarus Chakwera
The Mozambican leader thereafter inspected a guard of honour that was mounted at State House Parade Ground.
Later, Chapo signed the visitor’s book and went straight into diplomatic talks with Chakwera.
During the visit, the two leaders are expected to hold bilateral discussions that are aimed at nurturing the cordial bilateral relations that exists between the two countries.
On Friday, Chapo and Chakwera are expected to jointly launch the Dedza/Calomuė One-Stop Border Post in Dedza.
President Chapo is expected to leave the country later on Friday afternoon.
