CHIKWAWA-(MaraviPost)-The decision to strip him off his chieftainy was derived from lies that his senior, Paramount Chief Lundu has been mongering in sheer abuse of his closeness to President Peter Mutharika, the embattled Senior Chief Ngabu of Chikwawa has said in press briefing on Tuesday.

Likewise, the same decision to depose him was ochestrated by lies of failed politicians in his area, who have been bickering and lied to President Mutharika, that he was the reason behind their failure, Ngabu whose real name is Noah Dallas Chasafali said in the same presser.

The deposed Chief who was flanked by two of his juniors, Group Village Headmen Nyambilo and Malemia, narrated how for a period of over 10 years, he has been at loggerheads with Paramount Chief Lundu to the point that once, in 2013, his senior went a mile to obtain an injuction to retrain the former head of state, Joyce Banda to elavate him to the position of Senior Chief.

The traditional leader who has since obtained a stay order to restrain the firing pronouncement by President Mutharika, explained that, following the restraint order he obtained in that year, Lundu had eventually lost the case in court and he (Ngabu) was finally elevated hence Lundu developed some hatred for him thereafter.

On the political witchhunt, Ngabu said, he is aware that, his association with the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Member of Parliament (MP) in his jurisdiction, Abida Mia who is also wife to the political prominent figure, Sidik Mia, has been among the contributing factors for politicians in the governing party to find it beef enough for them to be channelling empty lies to President Mutharika.

He said, all he has been doing is work with legislator in his area who was elected by the people and that as traditional leader, he has the mandate to work with an elected MP especially on development matters.

Quirried Ngabu: “Am I among other things being persecuted for working with MP Abida Mia just because she belongs to an opposition party? By the virtue of her presence in the National Assembly, isn’ t she automatically in government hence the given mandate to me as Chief to work with the government of the day?”

Relating to his recent public castigation by Chief Lundu during a rally Vice President Everton Chimlirenji held in the Shire Valley, Ngabu said, such was a clear example of hate, which Lundu has for him.

In his articulation, Ngabu said, through the presser, he would like President Mutharika to disregard the previous Commission of Inquiry, which comprised Chief Tomasi of Thyolo, Chief Kunthembwe of Blantyre and Chief Tengani of Nsanje district on the basis that the commission was biased as it never met any of the persons on the side of the accused.

Ngabu said, the Commission, which came to him at night at the prior notice of only 2 hours was used as rubber stamp and was heavily influenced by Lundu inorder to accomplish his personal agend of getting rid of him.

“I was denied my right to be heard as I failed to call my witnesses to be present,” Ngabu said.

He therefore hinted that what he wants from President Mutharika is for him to reconstitute another Commission of Inquiry, which will excercise fairness in digging for the truth because all he wants is truth and fairnesss.

“I am pressing for fairness in this matter and I would like President Mutharika to know that he is leader for everybody and not just a few people like Chief Lundu and he should so much avoid acting on lies. The President must therefore listen to everybody from both sides not just from one side as he has done with Chief Lundu,” the Chief established.

In the letter dated December 12 but was delivered to Chief Ngabu on December 19, the reasons for President Mutharika to pronounce the firing was that Chief Ngabu was allegedly corrupt and was involved in issues of land grabbing.

In his argument, Chief Ngabu wonders why issues of 2003 were being updated now as if there was no government that time or in between the regimes to deal with the matters.

On the word “corrupt” as is refered of him in the firing letter, Ngabu wonders why he is free up to date because if he was corrupt, the graft busting body, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) would have come for him to bring him to book.

“The ACB could have already arrested me and if the accusation that I’m being fired because I’m corrupt still stands then I wonder why the ACB is not coming for me?” Wondered Ngabu.

Earlier in the day, hundreds of concerned citizens from Ngabu’s area marched to Chikwawa District Commissioner’s office where they presented a petition to President Mutharika to reinstate thier Chief and reconstitute another Commission of Inqury.

When contacted on the matter, Paramount Chief Lundu just trashed Ngabu’s accusation and said the embattled Chief should rather go and meet President Mutharika.
