LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-UTM President Dr. Saulos Chilima, on Thursday asked for calm as well as peace ahead of the Presidential Election case verdict slated for Monday, February 3, 2020.
Chilima told the news conference in capital Lilongwe, that as Malawi is known for being a peaceful nation that legacy needs to be maintained.
Chilima however called on President Peter Mutharika to display qualities of a statesman this period saying former Presidents such as Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda accepted the wish of Malawians by leaving office peacefully in critical moments.
The UTM leader joins Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Lazarus Chakwera who last week conveyed the same message to Malawians ahead of the court ruling.
