RUMPHI-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Vice President, UTM leader and also Tonse Alliance runningmate Dr. Saulos Chilima on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 donated MK1 million towards renovation of Senior Chief Mwankhunikira’s court which is in a dilapidated state in Rumphi district.
Chilima lamented over the condition of the chief court observing that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration has no respect for the local leaders.
“We cannot be here talking of empowering traditional leaders when they are working in conditions like these, this is a clear indication that this government has no respect for our chiefs and this will end come June, 23”, said Chilima.
The Tonse Alliance running mate however reminded the gathering of the atrocities people from the north have been subjected to such as quota system, being denied development among others promising them that once in government Tonse Alliance will be for every Malawian to enjoy.
The UTM leader also noted with dismay over lack of political will to have the Mombera University constructed, the development that has seen being used as a campaign tool.

“After five years failing to construct Mombera University, DPP should stop mocking you northerners with empty promises like vote for them so that they should construct it, this has to stop. Money have been allocated towards the construction project but nothing has been done up to now, this is heartbreaking” added Dr Chilima.
Malawi will have fresh presidential elections in four day time on June 23, 2020.
