LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Police detectives from the National Police Headquarters in Lilongwe are keeping in custody four individuals in connection with a series of ESCOM property vandalism cases.
According to Police, the arrest follows multiple reported incidents targeting ESCOM infrastructure and after thorough investigations led by Superintendent Madalitso Kuweruza,.
The Police have recovered over 40 bags of stolen copper wires and apprehended the four suspects.
The suspects are identified as Xu Hongxiang (62), a Chinese national, and three Malawians: Eliko Frackson (25) of Nsalu Village, T/A Kabudula, Lilongwe; Frezer Crement (26) of Chidzenje Village, T/A Kalolo, Lilongwe; and Yamala Lameck (29) of T/A Nsema, Mulanje.
The Malawi Police Service has since urged the public to report any suspicious activities involving ESCOM property.
The suspects will appear in court soon.
