LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Chipiku Premier division league outfit Kawinga FC good run in the league continued on Thursday as they defeated Villa FC from Mchinji 2-1 at Kamuzu Barracks ground to open a 9 points gap in group C.
The visitors took the lead at 40th minute in the first half through Philimon Manda’s spot kick.
However the first stanza ended just like that though the duel created scoring chances.
Kawinga FC who defeated Villa FC 3-0 in their outing to Mchinji,leveled the matters at 68th minute through their prolific attacker Rahim Mtondera.
As the match was thought would end in a draw,Arnod Son Kiyawa scored for the home team at 83rd minute, Villa FC tried to come back into the game as they pressed but the desired goal was no where to be found.
With the win,the inform Kawinga FC have now amassed 25 points from 10 games,winning 8,draw 1 and lost 1 currently leading group C while Villa FC are still second on the table with 16 points from same number of games,they won 5 games,draw 1 and lost 4.
In a post match interview Harry Saidi, Kawinga FC head coach, said Villa gave them a tough game as anticipated.
“There was no complacency amongst our players but our friends came well prepared. We thank the boys for the grant fight.We still need not to relax as the battle is still on”, Said Saidi.
His counterpart George Masito acknowledged the defeat and revealed that they need to rectify problem of failing to shoot on goal which is making them fail taking their chances.
Villa FC may be displaced on position two by Ngolowindo FC who host Carotyte Salima FC at Salima LEA School ground on Sunday.
Full fixtures for this coming weekend, on Saturday Mbabvi United FC up against Leyman Panthers FC at Mbabvi ground, Play Football MW FC against Dedza Young Soccer at Likuni while Kamba FC host Santhe ADMARC FC.
